i been searching for way to use my video card outside the case, but all i've see is laptop here and there. It be a real space / heat saver if i can use video card outside the case and add some additional cooling on it. Just cant find anything related to desktop but i know its out there and if anyone have any link feel free to share.

That technology's really new and/or crappily ported to work as an external video card...you'd probably be bottlenecked by whatever interface bus the external graphics box uses anyways.

You could get a PCIe Ribbon Riser Card and if it's long enough, stick it outside the case...

SyntaxError, you're the expert. Not.

That technology uses PCI Express Over Cable technology, which gives you exactly the same PCI Express bandwidth as if things were in the same box. The notebook implementation is only 1x wide coming from the ExpressCard slot's limitation, but nothing keeps anyone from making a 4x or 16x cable adapter to go into the PEG slot on the mainboard, and an external box to hold the card.

noobish, you're not going to save heat nor space nor noise. The external box will bring you more of everything in fact, not less.

Haha, that was a really clever "not" joke peter! Not! HAHAHAHA!

You obviously don't know what Noobish wants.

1. He did not mention anythign about noise, so that is not an issue for him unless it is something he forgot to mention. However, common sense would seem to indicate that if he wants the card outside the box, he probably doesn't care about noise.

2. Let's see here.. he is concerned about space .. hm... well, unless Noobish is really stupid, I think it is safe to assume that he is concerned about space inside the case, otherwise he would not be moving the card outside the case (er.. duh).

3. Seeing that he most likely is concerned about space inside the case, and seeing how he phrases his sentence about wanting a space/heat saver, he probably is concerned about heat inside the case also, not heat outside the case! Wow!

Next time you want to post obnoxious things to people, at least make sure you know what you are talking about. Your glass house is in need of many repairs after that post :p

edit: btw Noobish, i think the idea is pretty cool. It just might be a pain to implement in a secure or eye-pleasing way.

Well at least that can give some more breathing room for a burning quad-core CPU.

To OP: Like Peter says, the technology is out there. Just check out QuadroPlex. (and its price tag)

... and what is it that actually needs doing? Get the case airflow right. This isn't hard, but it involves a bit more planning than just coolers and fans on all the hot spots.

spittledip, take your trolling elsewhere, thanks.

:) thanks for the replies.

I think soon or later pc cases going to be as wide and long as computer desk with all these new huge hardware. If I could I would rather just have a monitor on my desk and all part component hang / hide else where (in wall)? ^^ jk. I though as thing get more advance they gets smaller.. not sure what's the deal here these day. Btw my English is horrible so bare with me.

The solution to your problem that costs is buy a case with adequate cooling. (e.g. my NZXT Zero with it's 4 X 120mm fans on the side, with the addition of a Zalman GPU fan, keeps things cool enough)

Or water cool your GPU/CPU.

Or if you have no money at all after buying PC parts, take the side off your case, plant a big box fan next to it, turn it on low.

Any of the above will solve your heat issue.
