One of our desktop guys came around today and needed the serial number off my laptop. He had me save my work and lift it out of the docking station while it was still on. I set it back in there, and now my external LCD is displaying only in black and white. I've tried resetting the graphics drivers to default (Catalyst Control Center, card is an X1600). Rebooting, booting off the docking station, etc, nothing has worked.

Any ideas?

Fvcking desktop guy just laughed when I told him and he said it was a "Windows feature."

If your desktop guy claims that it's just a "Windows feature" tell him that he needs to go back to your desk and disable this "feature" that he enabled when he pulled your laptop out of the docking station. ;)

We have an HP laptop with the same issue. Fortunately not caused be me (The tech)

I have done some troubleshooting and it appears the issue is with the laptop itself, possibly the port on the bottom of the laptop.

The external monitor displayed colors properly when connected to a neighboring docking station and laptop of the same type (Using DVI Cable). After switching out the docking station connected to the effected system, the monitor was still black and white. I also noticed the OSD adjustments display for the monitor appears in color in this case when the display itself is black and white.

I will call this in to HP and update later with results.
