external modem in XP?

i have a us robot couriuer v everything v90 external modem

the device manager reads it and says its working properly but i cant dail on and get connected

anybody know how to help me?

btw do i put it in the jack or phone outlet?

Did you hook the phone cord properly to the Line In part of the modem to the phone jack on the wall?
 
For some bloody reason, the modem has to be turned on before Windows boots up - I've meaning to ask if anyone around here can find a workaround. Logging out and in is not enough. You need a full reboot. If that doesn't help, post back with the exact error message you're receiving.

Edit: Oh yeah, put the line from the wall to the modem into the "jack" outlet.
