Hi everyone,
I have an IBM X41, and as some of you know, it is seriously lacking USB ports (only 2). I am running XP SP2 and I want to have my external mouse, keyboard, HDD, and DVD all plugged in. So, I employ the use of a USB 4 port non-powered hub.
The problem is, when I plug either my DVD or Maxtor HDD into the new USB 2.0 Hub, only the mouse and keyboard show up.... nothing about the hard drive except in device manager, it shows USB Controller, Compatible USB Storage Device, Location 0 (Maxtor 3200).
However, it doesn't show up under "My Computer", it's not assigned a drive and I can't access it.
The problem is in the hub, since both the HDD and the DVD work when plugged straight into the laptop's native USB ports.... they even work with my old USB 1.1 hub, but I got this 2.0 so I could burn stuff faster.
I tried uninstalling all the USB components in safe, rebooted, reinstalled USB, and the same problem.
I wonder if it's the fact that this is some Chinese USB hub that was cheap>..?
Thanks in advance
