External Inclosure for DVD-R

It's time to build a new system, and since I'm thinking about a black case, monitor, etc... this time, I was wondering if anyone could recommend an external inclosure for my (beige) Pioneer DVR-104 DVD-R. Could go with firewire or USB 2.0 depending on what's available. Also, does anyone know how much of a performance hit either of these would cause? Thanks.
