External HDD question?

I'm selling my desktop rig and just using my laptop but it only has a 20GB HD, my desktop has a 120gig full of data. I've never used a external HD but can i just get the casing from somewhere so I can just throw my 120GB in there then plug it up to my laptop?

I looked on newegg and all they had was the entire thing, didn't see any HD's enclosure's by itself.
