External HDD on a wireless router

I want to set up a external HDD and a printer on a wireless network so i can just carry my laptop around. I know the apple extreme can do both but just wondering if there is a cheaper option out there?

There are better more expensive solution.

In theory you can get a cheappo printer server and connect it to your printer, and acheappo NAS unit without Hard Drive. and add it to your current system.

It probably be about $150 for both.

Would it work well?

With the printer it is a matter of Luck ( http://www.ezlan.net/prtserver.html ).

A cheap NAS would be slowww...

AFAIC if you are Not ready to spend few hundred forget about it, but YMMV.
