External HDD, help me choose

I want a 300GB External HDD

The choices are:

A. Seagate External Drive 300GB 1 yr warranty USB2.0/Firewire: $180 after rebate
B. Seagate Internal Drive 300GB (5 yr warranty) USB2.0/Firewire, case bought locally: total cost about $180 as well.



If I go with A, I only get one year warranty. If I go with B, I risk getting a case with poor chipset that might become problametic.

Any idea?

I have a 'prolific' enclosure chipset. it works ok. you can find some support for it, although I'm not sure how solid the flashes are.

Definitely go with an internal seagate, particularly for the warranty and you can choose the best enclosure to fit your needs. I really like the one i recommended but everyone has their own preference. Certainly had no problems with the chipset.
