I have a seagate PATA 400GB HDD and its somewhat noisy. I want to place it into an external HDD enclosure similar to that of Bytecc and similar that you can find at newegg or svc. Unfortunately, the manufacturers say "up to 300GB". Is there something wrong with 400GB harddrives? My drive is a bit warm, but i cant really think of a reason why the manfacturers wont support the 400GB drives.

Anyone have any suggestions for HDD enclosures that are fanless, but conduct heat away from the harddrive effectively? Reason why i dont want a fan is because it would be noisier than the HDD is, and I'm aiming for quietness.

I would suggest something with a cooling fan, not all of them are loud. And a 400gig drive will get pretty warm in a sealed enclosure.
I have the me-702U2 and it works just fine, not sure why it says upto 300 gigs but you might wanna contact the manufacturer.
