External HD problems

Right, so I was getting tons of delayed write failures and system freezes immediately thereafter with one of my 4 external HDs (a Lacie 400GB). I read up on the problem and it was suggested I convert the primary partition on the drive to logical. So, I booted up off a PartitionMagic boot disk and told it to convert that partition from primary to logical. It's at 37% and has been stuck there now for about an hour, not moving..............HOWEVER, the activity light on the front of the drive is still constantly blinking...

Ideas? Dare I reset? Leave it for another hour, 2 hours, 12 hours?

NOTE: I HATE partitioning utilities and manual partitioning in general. I have been screwed SO many times.

LEAVE IT. Trust me on this, I was using Partition Magic to join 2 partitions and it stopped when it was doing it for a while so i just rebooted, I ended up losing everything on that drive. I was extremely pissed.

I would recommend leaving it for at least over night and if its still stuck when you wake up then possibly consider a reboot, but dont be suprised if you lose your data.

Sadly, I've had this hapen before as well...

I'll just leave it...

Any comments on the delayed write failure and my solution attempt or whatnot?
