external hd going crazy after vista install

i installed vista ultimate and ever since then my external hd is constantly busy and i dont know why?
 
I believe it's a service, check in the performance and maintenence section of the control panel.

I could be wrong. It's also supposed to ask you when you first plug it in if you want to use it a ReadyDrive, which I'll assume you said no to.
