Hi there,

Can anyone recommend an external hard drive for ~$100USD?

Haven't bought one in a long time and a friend is wanting one.
Something reliable and easy to use.

I would get a WD passport for that price range, you can get a 500GB one for $100, and its a 2.5" HDD so no power cord just USB, and its small.

You could probably get something with a little more space if you need it at the expense of the drive being physically bigger and having to use a power cord. Personally i like not having to haul around a cord if i bring my external over to my friends house, but if your just using it for backup it may not apply to you.

Thanks! Yes, it is only being used for backing up.
I saw a WD passport 1TB on a Wal-mart flyer for $99

Picked up a 1TB Samsung Story Station a couple of weeks ago, so far very pleased with it (using it for mp3 / pic / random file storage).

As I write, Fry's has the Hitachi 1TB Simple Drive onsale - $79. I have the 2TB version. Great drives; you wont go wrong.
