i never experienced this problem , and i am trying to help out my boss at work
so if u guys can please help me out as fast as possible that would be great

Hes using a Toshiba Qosmio laptop and a external 250 gig from bestbuy
now for the last while hes been getting an error whenever he trys to copy stuff from the external hardrive to the laptop
cyclic redundancy check is the error he gets whenever he trys to transfer files

i am not familiar with this problem so i did a bit of reading bout it , and from what i read it means that the hardrive is dying .
I recommended that he gets a new drive , he bought a seagate 500gb external hardrive
now my question to you guys is
is there anyway of fixing that crc problem?
are there any programs that i could use to fix the hardrive just so we can copy the files from it to the new hardrive.

If u guys can help that would be really great
thank you

There are some programs that can recover the data but it all depends on how important the data is. There is a chance of losing it if you keep using the drive. If the data is very important then your best option is to take it to a data recover expert.

Find an identical HDD in both brand and model and swap out the PCB's on the HDD's. Soemtimes the PCB is what dies and not the disk itself.

I would recommend booting with Unbuntu Linux and see what that makes on the drive I find it to be able to read sometimes better than Windows. Just an idea...
