external harddrive enclosure?

i actually just purchased a laptop, and i want to use one of the hard drives on my current computer to store some misc stuff that i dont need to keep on my laptop.

where do i start? i need to buy a firewire card for my laptop (i dont think it comes with one) so i might as well get a hd enclosure that has firewire.

You can search "enclosure" for a couple of pages of threads on them. USB 2.0 is about as fast as firewire so you don't need firewire just for the drive.
 
i connect my ipod through firewire.. i dont think it's usb 2.0 so firewire would probably work best. thanks for the replies
