I have been looking into an external hard drive and found a Newegg deal for a 250gb Western Digital for $99 here. The reviews say it has issues with the power cord being loose and it is also quite large (8.6" x 6.1" x 1.8") It does however have both usb 2.0 and firewire.

On the other hand, I also like the My Book. It's price is $134, however I think it looks better and it is also smaller (6.7" x 5.6" x 2.3"). It does only have usb 2.0 though.

Essentially I am asking if you think that sacrificing the firewire compatibility is worth the size and looks of the My Book.

edit: found the My Book for $109 at buy.com

I'd just buy a normal hard drive and a USB 2.0 enclosure. I like the versatility and it's cheaper.

I looked into that, but it seems that the cases are at least $20, with the nice ones being around $30. Put that on top of an $80 250gb OEM drive and it is in the same proce range. The only way I really see it saving me money is if I go up to a cheap 300gb hard drive.
