im lookin for an external hard drive. i dont care about the specs. i need about 5-10 gb of space on it ... thats it. it can be 5400 rpm and weigh 300 lbs for all i care .. i just dont wanna pay a lot. im lookin for something for under $50 .. preferably cheaper. the reason is because i just built a new computer and i cant network to the old one cuz it has the same operating system (win xp) on it. so i need an external hdd to transfer files with. any suggestions?

unless im mistaken (i very well may be) you cant network windows xp together if you use the same install disk (same key)

im told that if you do that then it will deactivate windows xp

How about putting the old drive in the new system as a slave and transferring your old files onto the new drive?

Good advice, thats what I would do if it were me. You can go the route of getting an external HD and transferring that way, but I don't see the need to spend extra cash on that when you could just add it to your new system for free.

Not that I know of, but I wouldn't put it past Microsoft. If you turned on your PM like the rest of the AT world I would help you.
