The alst time I tried to use an external hard drive with my laptop, windows let me know that there wasn't enough power coming from the port to run it. I was looking into buying one, as my hard drive space is pretty limited, so I was wondering if there's any way around this. Do some external hard drives have their own power source which can be plugged into a wall? Is there any other solution to this? I'm really running out of space. Thanks in advance!

Any external HDD intended for use on a laptop should have its own power module. There are small drives which come with two USB cables - but most laptops don't have that many USB ports to waste. A powered USB hub can work in some cases.
