Hi all, I'm new here. The members here seem to know their stuff very well, so hopefully you could share some knowledge with me.
My issue:
I have a plug-and-play maxtor 80GB external hard drive that makes a weird "scanning" noise whenever it's plugged in. This weird sound is almost EXACTLY like a printer, (for a more colorful description). When the drive's power is plugged in and it is also connected to my computer's USB port it isn't recognized by Windows. The drive is a little over a year old and this is the first problem I've ever had with it.
I'm really curious to know if the freezer trick would work to get some data off the hard drive.
If anyone can share some insight or information it would be greatly appreciated.
