External Hard Drive - One Touch Backup...Options?

I am looking at one of the external hard drive units with the one touch backup. Mainly to just do a complete system backup of important files and such, and maybe to store older items rarely accessed.

Are there any opinions on either the Maxtor II (think this is a new version, and it has a 16mb buffer), or the Western Digital offering ? (I believe the same unit is available with an 8 in 1 card reader also).....

I run XP PRO on an Athlon XP 3000+, with a WD Raptor 74gb.....

Thanks for any advice!

Both do exactly the same thing so it really just comes down to which one think looks better or which one you can better price on. The 16MB in the Maxtor (if it has it) won't really help you all that much if your using it for backup. Does it really matter which one is faster if your using it just for backup?

That's true...I suppose they both use the same backup software so it is probably a mute point all around...

I bought this Seagate external hard drive from Newegg because I already have the 120 GB version (that was the only brand and capacity that was available locally). Since I've started doing some video editing and wanting more room for disk management, I decided to purchase the big brother of the Seagate I already have. They are stackable and also have an detachable stand if I wanted to go that route. The larger Seagate has the one touch button feature which I hope will make things easier to take care of backups (BounceBack Express software). But I already have Disk Image 7 that pretty much takes care of my disk management needs in any case.

I don't know how true this is but on the Seagate website they tout their line of external hard drives as being the quietest available. With what I've experienced with the 120 GB version I found it to be very quiet also.
