External Hard Drive Firewire: Got some questions

aic

I have a laptop and I am thinking about getting a firewire hard drive for my video editing purposes (Studio DV). I assume that the operating system will designate a hard drive letter like "F" for the drive (USB would so I assume that firewire will also).

Now can I hook the same firewire HD to another computer's firewire PCI card and transfer the data to that internal hard drive?

Operating system question.

PIII 850Mhz Laptop has Windows 2000 Pro.

The PII 333Mhz had Windows 98SE.

Now if I get the firewire hard drive would I have any trouble saving in Windows 2000 and pulling up the data in Windows 98SE? I am referring to Fat32 and NTSF. I am not familiar wilth Windows 2000 Pro.
