I guess that's the market (professional) it's aimed for. Hence the quadro's. However, I don't really see why GeForce card's can't be used in something like this eventually. And btw, you can game on quadro's with a performance hit. A small one.

Nice article from Leadtek about how hacking a Geforce to perform like a Quadro is dangerous, and the main differences between Quadro FX and Geforce here.

Tell that to Duvie in the CPU forum. He has a GeForce 6800 flashed to a quadro and works like a charm. And I don't believe this is the first time he's done this. Not 100% sure though.

Folks.. the point is not whether a Quadro can play games as well as GeForce.
I just felt like pointing out that they don't, but some people took offense to this because I crushed their dreams or something I don't know. Sorry for derailing. :)

Well then feel free to point out how dismal the gaming performance would be with GeForce cards in that box instead of Quadros. Quadro's are meant for professional work, that is common knowledge. Nobody said anything about gaming with this setup. But it is a glimpse of what "could" come for the home desktop user using GeForce cards. I can definitely see super UBER enthusiasts salivating over something like this. At least those that could afford this would be expensive offering.

Sorry to keep bringing this up... But

Your settings must have been set for a specific app or you were using the older drivers. I tried them next to each other and the difference was small with 6x.xx driver (the newest at the time)

Oh yeah a QuadroFX 3400 isn't a 6800GT GPU it is more like a 6800NU GPU, it has 12 pipeline.. so that is one reason why a 6800Gt would be faster. Not to mention the GPU clock and Mem Clock of a Quadro3400 is a lot slower. A Quadro FX4000 is a 6800GT basicly so sorry you thought it wasn't.

You don't have to believe me but you really are not giving any facts and are mis-leading the forum. The GPUs in the Quadros and the Geforce are pretty much the same with a laser cut for a specific register that drivers look at to turn on certain features. The PCB boards are different and so are the components but that has little to do with its performance just quality and additional features.

In bold above:
I was thinking that same thing before, but was not certain of GeForce Equivalent of Quadro 3400.

Yeah, the Quadro FX 4400 is about the level of the 6800 Ultra.

Quadro FX 3400 is about the same as the Geforce 6800 GTO.
