External firewire hard drive won't load automatically when turned on.

I used to have a 8GB hard drive in there and everytime I powered up, it would detect it and assign a drive letter and open up the root folder of the drive.

Since then I've put a 120GB in there and when I flip the switch, it just turns on. No detection.

I have to go to Admin Tools, Disk Manager, then right click and choose "reactivate." Only then is it assigned a drive letter and is usable.

How do I get my great autodetection back?

Answer - Do not use Dynamic Disks with external hard drives as they do not support quick mounts and dismounts aka hotplugging.
