I'd suggest a combo USB 2.0 and eSATA enclosure like the one above. Would be nice to know what chipset they use in it. Vantec has been making nice enclosures lately too. I just got a Silverstone MS04 which works fine for PATA drives but is kind of pricey unless you find a deal on it somewhere.

I ordered one of the Rosewill external cases today. I'll see if I can tell what chipset is in it. I suppose the maker is stamped somewhere?

Yes, they are more expensive, but it's been my experience that they are faster, more reliable, buss powered and the general build quality if FAR superior than anything else out there. Tech support on that Rosewill will be next to impossible if you were to ever need it.

what about ICYDOCK? those any good?

The MB452MK, MB559US, and MB664US can use the "Hybrid" eSATA/power bracket (hooks to Molex from PSU and SATA on motherboard).
