external enclosure

i'm wondering which one will give me stability because my brother has one but it is always overheated. so i want one that gives me a lot of reliability.

of course i won't use that much, i only use for college works and etc. i don't mind having fan/s to cool down the hard drive.

the size of hard drive storage doesn't matter. i plan to buy an used hard drive when i'm given the best external enclosure.

thanks!

I've heard the Bytecc and AMS enclosures from Newegg are pretty good and relatively cheap. I've been running an ADS USB enclosure for a couple years I picked up cheap from CC and it works great.

Mine has a rear fan in it, but I just turn mine on and off as I need it. Even if you aren't going to run it 24/7, I'd still recommend picking up that has an active cooling fan.

Get one with a fan and an external power brick. The ones that take AC directly stay warm due to their PSU. If you're all crazy, you could get a 5.25" enclosure (with a fan) and a fanless HDD cooler, like Aerocool's or Zalman's 🙂.

Yes, get a Bytecc (brand seems to be popular around here) or other 5.25" enclosure with a fan (almost all of them come with adapters for 3.5" drives). Your drive will run a lot cooler than in a 3.5" enclosure. The AMD and ADS enclosures are nice too but generally more expensive than the Bytecc which are often on sale at Newegg et al.
