I am currently looking to upgrade my NAS with WD Red 5TB
Currently, TD and B&H has them for $130-150 (WD Red inside).

Do they come preformatted for external use, where NAS won't recognize? Do they all need to be desktop mounted, formatted and reinserted to NAS for it to work? Or would QNAP NAS self format itself for use?
