I'm not sure if this is the right forum but, since It's for my notbook I'll give it a try.

I'm looking to get an External enclosure for my 2.5" drive, I would like firewire, USB 2.0 and powered of the laptop if possible. Any suggestions or tips, searching the net there seems to be 100's of different styles, so I'm looking at narrowing that down a little.

Thanks

Try the SaroTech Cutie DX enclosure. Bottom line is, if you can find it, it is just the best one you can buy.

Btw, if you want it to be usb and bus powered, then
1. your hdd has to draw less than .5amps (1 usb port can only support .5amps)
2. it takes up 2 usb ports (2nd usb plug just takes up power)
3. it takes up 1 usb port and one ps2 port (same as above)

Powered firewire supports 1.5amps (I think); but most laptops only supplies unpowered firewire ports (6pin powered/4pin unpowered)/

I actually went to an accesssories store near my area and picked one out physically so I can't really help you there. I got a generic model.

This one works great

Works great with a D800, i8100, T23, X30, T41, *R50, and all desktop systems I've tried so far. Fast, built well, looks good and doesn't cost a fortune... it also allows the option of using an extra usb or an additional (not included) 5v wall wart to supply power.

edit change T50 to R50 and add potential use of wall wart.
