I am currently comparing between an USB 2.0 DVD writer and IDE writer.

i know its very different. I just want to know the difference in performance....

with USB 2.0, i can move around and use it anywhere i want... but i wonder how much performance difference would there be compare to IDE... maybe its not much afterall.....

anyone has info on this?

There should be no difference in performance unless you have a USB 2.0 controller that has issues.

Cheers!

USB 2.0 is plenty fast for a DVD burner. Doesnt even come close to being affected by USB 2 VS IDE. Unless they come out with a 100x burner you will see no dif. :)

Oh yes. My brother borrowed my external USB2 DVD burner and hook onto his old USB1.1 port. It took him 3 hours to burn a movie. Took me about 15 minutes. I have 4x burner.
