Is there any difference in performance of an external DVD writer and an internal version? I plan on buying a DTR notebook and a tablet, but prefer a external drive to use between the two systems. Also, can you turn a previously internal drive into an external one? Are there any external DVD writers that do not require an external power source? I'm sure the latter question is unlikely, but I'm not wholly sure.

can be ..depends on partsbut at this time ..pretty much same in or out
