I have two external hard drives that are formatted FAT 32 because I use them back and forth between a Win 98 and XP machine. When I plug one into my XP machine it shows up as Drive F: Removable Drive. When I plug the other one in, it shows up as Drive K:Local Drive. Why are they different and why are they not both removables drives?

Windows XP may be more suited for external drives so it labels it as a removable drive where 98 may not have that type of labeling.

In terms of the different drive letters, that is just because you probably have a different number of drives in each system.

Either way, if the drive works, whats the different???
