Ever since I did a reformat of WinXP Pro a few months back, my external hard drive (an older Maxtor OneTouch) has been hard-locking my system when doing transfers to or from the drive. I thought it might be a FireWire issue, so I switched it to USB, and it's still doing the same thing. I don't appear to have any outdated drivers anywhere.
Could it just be that the drive is going bad? Any help much appreciated.
