External Drive - Gets No drive letter

Have a brand new WD external harddrive that is not showing a drive letter when booting up attached to my laptop. I am on a corporate network that runs a script so letters F: and above are mapped. But I would expect to see this as E: (D: is the CD drive).

Any ideas how to force this to E: ?

Thanks.....

Roc,

As you are on a corporate network, there are quite possibly company policies against you installing hardware such as external drives on their computers (for all the obvious secutity reasons). Please check with your IT department before you get yourself in trouble.

Swampster........Thanks for the warning....shows many users on this forum have the right intentions.

The request from the user was/is a legitimate one....certain areas are permitted to have these devices in our company. As for the problem...I kept poking around and found the answer in Manage > Disk Management. I simply hard-coded the device to E: then did several reboots to test. All seems well.

Thanks again.
