External Display Issues

Hi all, using a LG 23inch 1080p external monitor with my rPro and sometimes I get display flickering when connecting the two together as shown in this video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3-WO9rY8_dU

Note I found this video on the net, same issue as I have, so just using it as a representation, most of the time unless connected from start up, the external display doesn't actually work with the laptop and both screens flicker.

Does anyone know why this happens and how to stop it as it's awfully annoying. Cheers!

It's a shot in the dark, but my first guess would be the HDMI adapter. Have you tried a different adapter?

I actually haven't. It was a cheap £1.98 1m cable. I'll see if I can nab a friends to try out.

Perhaps a dodgy connection.

While I'm sure most third party cables will work, I never understand why so many people get a Mac and then cheap out on everything else - if you're living the Fisher-Price life, go all in for the optimal experience, otherwise what's the point. At least use the Apple adapter, in which case you'll have a better idea where to point fingers or take up with Apple.
