External Devices Not Shutting Off After Shutting Down System

Hey guys longtime site user but new poster, just built a PC for my sister, my first build, nothing extravagant, sempron 2500+, 512 megs pc3200, fx 5200, etc, just a basic machine. I am having a problem with the mouse not shutting off after powering off the system. It is a microsoft optical mouse and it still glows after shutoff. I have a shuttle an35 ultra board and an antec slk 1650 case and power supply unit. What could be causing the mouse to stay on after shutdown? Thanks again guys!

"Wake on Keyboard" So that's the little ah heck of a setting that keeps the mouse on with only standby power on some boards eh? Thanks for the tip M4H

Yep. Some keyboards will also have a perma-lit Numlock as a side effect.

My solution, personally, is "USB Mouse" 🙂

The mouse is PS2 indeed but there is no wake on keyboard entry only PS2 Mouse power ON and I have it disabled. What other settings should I look for in order to fix this, also, the LAN lights are constantly on after power down as well, these are the little things I know but I just want it to be functioning as well as possible.

It won't hurt anything, it is just the 5v standby power that keeps them powered up and the power draw is miniscule.
