so i have a 5.25" NEC 2350A 16x or whatever DVD burner... I have a speeze external enclosure for 3.5" hdds and i tried using it with the dvd burner. It can burn small dvds, but when i try to burn isos of full dvds, it works until about 20% then just sits there... can u reccomend me an enclosure that will work with this drive and actually burn full dvds?

How did you get a 5.25" drive into a 3.5" enclosure? Did you try using the burner internally and if so what are the results?

lol, didn't even notice that. Do tell.

oh, well i just set the drive on top and plugged in the IDE and power... and its on a laptop so i cant try it internally......

any ideas here?

Its out of my experience. I've never used a HD enclosure with a dvd burner on a laptop.

I bet its not an enclosure problem. Maybe its heat? I havent really heard of DVD roms getting overheated but I guess its possible. Try using a different enclosure and see if you get any results.

This case works well for me with a Plextor dvd writer mounted in it. It uses an oxford chipset. I use it mainly with an IBM Thinkpad, but the nice feature is that I have all the combinations of cables, with all the possible ends, both usb and firewire, that it can be used on almost any computer. My combo works perfectly writing full dvds
