external burner for iBook

Mixed messages via google search whether external burner is supported with iDVD. Anyone have experience with this? If supported, any recommendations?

There is a way, but you have to drop two files into your home directory. Once you do that, you can apple+click the burn icon and it will burn the dvd using the writer of your choice.

I hear panasonic burners have good support ... check out the macnnn.com peripherals forum and they will hook you up with all the info. I personally have burner in an external enclosure that works...

Here you go. You just need the patch to make it work with iDVD. It is on the page i just linked you to. It also burns Dual Layer.

The burner costs $149. The patch is free.
