For those with multiple PCs, it can become costly to purchase internal BD-ROM's for every PC. I was wondering if there is any decent external BD-ROM that is reliable and performant? Or should I just purchase an internal one and an enclosure? (it'll be very ugly..)

Writing isn't a big deal but if price is reasonable I can consider it as well.

i just got an LG one and threw it in an enclosure. its an old habit with dvd writers. i refuse to have them internal anymore

bonus re LG, is that it does hd-dvd as well in case my 360 drive goes :)

Hmm.. I think that Bytec encloser looks OK, but quite costly for an enclosure. What's the deal with 'Oxford' chipset? I haven't heard of the company but apparently the Egg thinks it's ad-worthy.

Is there any external BD-ROM or BD-RW available from a reputable manufacturer?

not sure if it matters for writers, but ages ago it was (iirc) needed for hard drives. i think a lot of the others were limited to drives of 128GB and under

How about this? Plextor has lost much of its fame these days (mostly being inactive) but this product is definitely a new one, it seems. Price is great compared to other external ones. If it works as it should I think this would make an ideal option for me. Does anyone have a link to reviews, etc.?
