External ATX power supply

Hey guys any thought on mounting an atx power supply outside a case? It is the major heat source and largest single element inside a case so why not move it to the outside, like a humongous power brick? The ideal would be to have the power supply on the floor running power to everythingon the case. Can this be done? Are there length limits? Can I just slice longer cables on my present power supply? Let me know! Any info, thoughts would be greatly appreciated

I'm sure you could splice into the wires and add length to them. But would you want to? Mount it in a nifty little cage on the top. You can drill holes in the case for the wires to run through. Most ps units that I know of have a few inches to spare, should be enough to get it to the top. And you can make the cage all purdy to hide the wires. 🙂 gl
