external adapter to allow laptops dual monitor support?

anyone familiar with a device that allows you to plug into the VGA port on your laptop, to give you access to dual monitor plugins?

somthing like a A/B Switch but for VGA monitors and will be detected in windows as a new device thus allowing the ability to split or merge your laptop LCD screen but onto two external monitors?

Would really come in handy

dont have access to a docking station

There are PCMCIA cards that do that, the first hits I got off the search engine were for PC to TV, but I know they are out there. Do a search for PCMCIA VGA or PCMCIA graphics. Found this under PCMCIA graphics.
