extending wireless signal?

I setup a netgear router in a client?s house and it works fine, but his house is so big that some areas can't get signal. Is there anyway to amplify the wireless signal like say putting a device right where the signal starts getting choppy? Can I just use a wireless access point, or do those require that the access point be physically connected to the router? Having cables running every where is not an option. Thanks

To stay Wireless you need a Repeater.

D-Link900AP+, or Linksys WAP11 can do it.
