Extending Wireless Range

As my main router I have the Dlink DI-514. Also, I have the Linksys wrt54g with the Sveasoft Firmware. Is there any possible way that I could have the Dlink as my main router, and have the WRT54g act as a repeater/range extender?

Entry Level Routers when using a special Wireless Mode (like a Repeater) need to be of the same Brand.
