Extending the range of a Linksys GS router?

Hi, we are getting ready to put an offer on a house. It's an older house that I don't think it too well wired for internet. So I'm going to have to be relying on the wireless alot more than I have to now.

Anyway, the cable is in the main house, and my office will most likely in an apt over the garage in the rear or the property maybe 50-75 feet away. Should I buy a better antennae to entend the range? Or should I start reading up on the pre-N technology?

Thanks!
Aaron

better antennas work, plus you can put openwrt or some other 3rd party firmware on it and boost the radio a bit.

Perfect. That'll work. Any recomendations for a better antennas? Or pretty much anyone made for that will do.

I haven't checked out any of the other firm wares, just cause it's been working fine, but I guess I need to. Thanks!

the WRTs have standard TNC antennas, so it doesn't even need to be specifically designed for that router to work. Home made ones work great too.

Sweet. Where do you get those antennas anyway? Never even thought to look for them ever, but I've heard about them.
