Extending range of Netgear WPN802

Hi,

I've installed a Netgear WPN802 access point to my network, but the laptop is sometimes used outside in a close-by building. This means the signal must go through several doors, walls, etc. However, I can get signal and acess the network/internet from just outside the door of the room I want to be in! This means I need to extend the range just a wee bit!

My question is: Is there a best type of antenna I can buy for my laptop to accomplish this? I believe that I cannot add an antenna to the access point itself because it is the WPN802 model, which has internal antennas and no plugs for antennas....

Any help would be greatly appreciated...particularly recommendations for antennas I can buy!

Thanks!

I'm not entirely sure...I don't have the laptop with me at this moment. But it's a recent Dell laptop computer with their wireless network card--I think it's the Dell 1370...
