Hi everyone. Sorry if my question is somewhat 'novice'

So I live in a 2 story house, and my room and PC is on the 2nd floor. Right now I'm using Huawei HG8245H router in my room, upstream via optical connection, and connected to my PC with LAN cable.

On the first floor, naturally the wi-fi signal from the router is somewhat weak, so the further I get from the spot right below my room, the weaker the signal gets, and I get speed drops. Normally the speed drop is fine, because I'm just using the connection for browsing and watching youtube on my phone, but I'm planning on buying a set of PC to put on the 1st floor. I want the PC on the 1st floor to get the same speed as the PC in my room, and at the same time, act as a wi-fi extender for 1st floor use. My plan is get a device, just call it X for the moment. So X is gonna be connected to the HG8245H on the 2nd floor, and the new PC via LAN cable (to get full speed), and at the same time X will be a wireless router for 1st floor use.

So my question is, what device should I get for that purpose? Originally I thought I'd just get another HG8245H, but I'm not sure if it can be used for that purpose (2 routers sharing one upstream connection, but act as separate wireless routers). I've read the manual, and it doesn't mention anything about connecting 2 of the same devices.

Thank you in advance.

So you're running a LAN cable to first floor?

Yes, that's my plan. However, I also want a wireless range extender, or a separate wireless router (eventhough it's sharing the same upstream connection) on the 1st floor. It's simple if I only want an internet connection to my 1st floor PC, I'll just have to connect a LAN cable from the 1st floor PC to the router in my 2nd floor (the router got 4 LAN jacks, I used one for PC, so 3 left). The thing that puzzles me is if I also want a wireless range extender, or a separate wireless router.

Get a switch for the first floor.

Setup goes LAN port on router > switch > PC

A wireless range extender can be added wherever you can get a signal. If you get one that has a lan port, you can plug that into the switch as well

Dont add another router, you only want one layer 3 device on the network, layer 2 devices extend the lan.

If you get another wiress router, set it up as a WAP
