I need a wireless range extender and know nothing about them. I am looking at the amped sr 10000 but not sure if it will work with AT&T U-verse router. I have a 2wire492 model # 3801hgv router. An suggestions as to what is the best range extender to get?

It may be cheaper to obtain an access point and use a Cat 6 cable to connect it to the router.

Depending on the access point type, it should be enough to connect another 10-30 nodes/hosts on it.

What I did was get a Linksys WRT54g and daisy-chain it with my main wireless router and did what mammador suggested and ran cat5e cable through to the other side of the house and put it there. good results.
