Extending a Wireless Range at home

i apologize if my search capability is not as advanced as some of you. I have searched all over Anandtech and Google to try and find an answer that I can understand and implement. I appreciate all of your help.

Here is the situation. I have just changed my room and the new room doesn't get wireless in one corner...of course, the corner that my computer desk is. In some parts of the room, I do get a signal, but is "Low".

Here is how my router is setup:

<-----> means ethernet cable connection

Cable Modem(in garage) <---100ft cable--->Router(linksys WRT54GC)<--100ft cable--->Hub(in garage)<----->PC(in garage)

2 laptops connected via Wireless

I have a HighGain Antenna on the Router and that doesn't help my situation. There is no way i can get a cable to this location and I can't move my router either.

I need something that I can put without a Network Cable going in...so basically wirelessly.

Would a Bridge, Repeater or Access Point help in my case??? If so, what is the best option without downgrading on speed yet, increasing the range?

Thanx again.

Well, one option is to replace the WRT54GC with a WRT54GL, flash the firmware with DD-WRT open source firmware, up the antenna dBi to 70 or so to take full advantage of your antenna and you should be set. Placed in the right conditions, ie. up high in the relative open and with good air flow, you can get a range approaching a mile with this method.

edit - obviously the range depends on the strength of the antenna.
