My parents have an all wireless network. It's a 2-story house with a tp-link AX1500 upstairs (they bought). I bought an RE215 to see if it could help the Internet speed downstairs. It IS helping with a few dead spots downstairs, but the speed is terrible for areas that can still connect to the router upstairs (speed on the extender is terrible when testing the two in the same spot). I am trying to figure out if I am missing something, or if there is a mismatch limiting my speed. Appreciate any input. With current setup using the Tp-link Tether app, I can connect the extender to the router to create an extended network, but it shows as I separate connecting. It isn't meshing like I was hoping.

AX1500 is not a mesh system and does not support TP-Link's oneMesh system

Ty lantis3. I don't see anything on that page that says it's not, and the extender only lists one older router as being compatible. Perhaps this is due to the extende being an older model than the router. Even if it's not, I am disappointed in the performance of the extender, even in non-mesh mode, and that tp-link can't do a better job of listing what works with what. That may be on purpose, to make sure people are buying everything they need at once, but still disappointing, as tp-link routers have been lasting me much longer than other brands over the past decade.

Mesh system is cheap now.

Just buy a new (TP-Link) mesh system and sell the old devices.

How many extenders would you recommend? 2 stories around 2600 sq ft. The main killer is the doors. They are all solid core doors, and my parents usually keep them closed (and I know I won't be changing that habit). Also, with the range, the modem and router are currently in the upper floor on one side of the house. I was wondering if they should have the cable company come out and move it to the lower level, but I honestly don't know if it will just sacrifice one spot for another. The room it is in now almost never needs wifi, so it just seems a bit of a waste.

I have this system in my house only using 2 of the units. I have them connected with a cable though {Ethernet backbone}. I get excellent coverage over our 2600 sq ft 2 story house. One is upstairs in the bonus room and one is downstairs in our family room at practically near opposite ends of the house.

I also got this same system for my in laws. Their house is only 1500 sq ft but the 3rd unit is in a building in the backyard. They too get excellent coverage.

Limited-time deal: TP-Link Deco AX3000 WiFi 6 Mesh System(Deco X55) - Covers up to 6500 Sq.Ft. , Replaces Wireless Router and Extender, 3 Gigabit ports per unit, supports Ethernet Backhaul (3-pack) https://a.co/d/c6dcYIl
