Were getting a new leather sofa and recliner in about 4 months (its a special order from Italy), so we pay a deposit up front and the rest when it arrives...

The extended warranty is for 5 years and covers rips, tears, stains, etc whether it be caused by human, animal, alien, etc...

Anyway, its $200 on the roughly 2k set. Worth it? I'm leaning towards yes but wanted to see if anyone else had any insight?

how can they insure people abusing their furniture?

Yeah I'd be cautious about people offering warranty on something like stains

No. They will never pay and you aren't exactly talking about top of the line furniture.

I purchased an Italian leather sofa, chair, and ottaman(American Furniture Warehouse))for roughly that price 2 years ago and purchased the 5 yr warranty because I have small children. So far I havent had to use it but it is nice to know its there for 3 more yrs:) By then, I will probably purchase a new set anyways. I say go for it

She said the way it typically works is that they will repair/replace almost anything the first time that type of incident happens (i.e. an accidental bowel rupture on the couch, dog piss, etc). But they will not cover repeat exposures. Kinda like you get one shot at each type of destruction, can't repeat the distruction. :)

I'm not knocking your furniture, I'm sure it will serve you well.

I have a lifelong friend who runs his family furniture manufacturing business and his low end sofas start at five grand. That's just his cheap stuff and you don't even get a BJ to go with it.

Get it.
I have a rip in the arm of my leather sofa and they are replacing the whole side. They sent a repair person over to try and fix it but it did not look like new afterward so they are replacing the arm/side.
If after that I'm still not happy they will replace the whole thing.
Well worth it!!!!

A salesman at Breuners tried to talk us into extended warranty for our microfiber sofa and loveseat, but we declined it. First, chance is, we'll get sick of this furniture in that many years anyway. And second, a year later Breuners went out of business. "That would never happen to such a large company as ours". Yeah, right. Glad I didn't fork any money over to them.

Well, maybe a good thing or a bad thing, the warranty is handled through a third party (i have the name around here somewhere, that apparenly has been in business since 1975 or so).

I highly doubt we could afford another couch anytime in the next 5 years as well, but good to know... thanks :D
