Extended stay hotels?

I will be moving to portland or soon and I will need a place to live for about 6 weeks before I move into my new place. Someone mentioned that exdened stay hotels are an option. Anyone had any experience with these? Rates? Link? Thanks.

Sure, plenty of experience. I prefer these hotels for short layovers as well.

My favorite is the Residence Inn.
It offers the great combination of lots of space for the same price as a regular room at another hotel.

Extended Stay is very reasonable. The rooms are smallish studios but at least you do get a kitchen.

i stayed from friday night to sunday check out.

it was an all day, lock in type deal because i had to get some work done.

it's cool. small kitchen, heater/AC ... my only gripe is the lack of circulation in the room. another thing, the stove vent doesn't leave the room, it carries through the vent and blows it through the front of the stove overhead. im not sure if it's like that for all the rooms, but it was for mine.

I've been living in a Homestead Suites for about ten weeks now - it's company paid, so I don't know about the cost, but I'm pretty ambivalent about it. The nicest thing is they clean your place twice a week, which is a great feeling when you come back and you had a sh!t day and everything is vacuumed and your bed is made flawlessly 🙂 They're not particularily large or small, but they're OK, as long as you can live on microwaved/stovetop food for six weeks - there are no ovens, garbage disposals, or dishwashers. They're strictly mediocre in my opinion.

I stayed in one for like 8 weeks in Daytona Beach a year or two ago. It wasn't bad, though I did come home on the weekends. It had a little mini-fridge, 2 burners, full size kitchen sink, & a microwave. I was cool with it for the length I stayed. I don't think I'm too picky though. Can't recall the name of it though, it was right across the street from the racetrack, and next to this Mall.

i stayed in an ExtendedStay America in NJ for about 5 weeks once because the closing on our new house got screwed up.

it was a pleasant stay. good accomodations etc.

about $1200.00 / month i believe.

Residence Inn is great for extended stay.

I've stayed in Staybridge Suites a couple times, and they are pretty nice. Sizeable rooms with decent features. Last one was near Dulles Airport in DC, and it looked like an apartment complex instead of a hotel.

I've used those for 2 weeks and it is OK. You get kitchen with utilities + the normal hotel stuff. Rates were around $80/day in my case. It was Residence Inn.

I don't know if I could stand 6 weeks.

Where abouts in Portland?

There are PLENTY of apartments available for $650/mo.

I have done tonnes of time in Marriott Suites and Residence Inns both are nice, the suites are best. $100 to $300 per night if the company is paying 😉

usually apartments don't like 5 week guests. also, you would have to find a furnished apartment.

there might be corporate apartments availble, but those will probably run more than $650 / month
