Extend Shed or Buy New One?

There is an 8X10 barn style shed on my property. It has double doors on it. 120 sq ft is the limit without a permit. So if my math works, I can either go out 5' on the 10' side or buy a new 10X12 shed. I don't want to do the work, not enough Geritol in the world.
I would have them replace the shingles on the whole shed and install a 36" steel door as I have no need for the double doors with piano hinges.

Price and time is what I am concerned with. I'd like cheap and quick. Please spare me the Fast/Good/Cheap meme. I'd also like the contractor to not come back later and try to rip me off but that's probably an unreasonable expectation. What do you guys think?

10x12 handi house is going to be north of $1500 here so not real cheap. But you would have 2 sheds then to store your extra leathers.

Closer to $3100 here. And I believe total sq ft is 120 so can't do two sheds. Unless I got with a 6X6.

If cheap and fast are the main priorities, getting a second shed (5x8 or 6x6) would be simplest. If the roof height and angle are the same as the old shed, you could even just knock out the back wall and attach the new 5x8 to the end of the existing shed to make it 15x8...

Building an extension on to the existing shed should be relatively easy and inexpensive as well. Maybe even cheaper than a pre-built 5x8 and you could make sure the roof matches up properly.

Both options are probably a LOT cheaper than an entire new 10x12 shed unless you can find someone willing to buy the old shed and take it away.

Extend the existing shed, so long as the contractor knows what he's doing, not just someone trained to put together shed kits.

How about a 5' roof extension leaving the sides exposed? That's fast and cheap if the stuff you want covered doesn't have to be wrapped.

If your city has a restriction on size of shed it might be easier to build a second one. My city has a limit of 108sqft for a shed so if I wanted bigger I'd have to build two. Something to look into.

When I built mine I kinda thought it would be cool to have a basement for it too for victims extra storage but more work, so didn't bother.
