Extend internal wireless range on laptop?

I live 3 blocks from my campus. My whole campus is set for wireless. I am wondering if there is any way to extend the distance of my wireless capabilities and possibly get on the campus network from 3 blocks away. Its an internal card so I couldn't use the famed pringles can, heh.. at least I don't think. Anyone have ideas?

Btw, its a Gateway M275E.

Yes, get a wireless router (can be had for like $35 at www.NewEgg.com), plug into that with a cable (your lappie have a cable connector?), then use the antenna of that to connect the pringles antenna and aim at the campus.
You could even buy TWO of the wireless routers, connect them together with a cable, use one to connect to your laptop wireless and the other to connect to the campus. Then sell connections to your roomies using MACID control so that everyone shares the connection. 🙂

Go around and search for wardriving websites that offer tips and DIY instructions. I would suggest to buy a new antenna or if your strapped for cash make one.
If you are really into DIY and taking some risks, get a large coffee can, cut it, hammer it flat, have two large rectangular pieces and put both in you screen cover. Then solder on the other antennas on the flat coffee can.
Do whatever floats your boat.

How do I setup a wireless modem to get wireless internet connection?
I have a USB wireless NIC, and a D LINK wireless router.
And my university is pretty close, and i can actually get the signal but its really weak.
any ideas on how to boost it?

get stronger antennas for the dlink (should be able to unscrew the 2 that are on it, replace with more powerfull ones) if you are already getting a signal then you shouldnt have a problem boosting it enough for it to be usuable.

What i am saying is that without using the router, i do get signal on my laptop with my wireless nic, but i do have a wireless router that i am not using right now, can i use that to boost the signal?
